“Try not to resist the changes, which come your way. Instead let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come?.“
When I make mistakes, I’m making progress.
I have an ambivalent relationship with change. For a long time I wanted my days to be different from what they were, so I pursued change and begged it to be my companion. At the same time, I fear change. It keeps me unsettled and ungrounded.
You cannot step into the same water twice. Change is inevitable. But I am also realizing that ‘what is’ is just as important as the ‘different’ that is about to come. Staying open and allowing life to live through me is the key. When I notice that I try to control life, I tell myself to ‘step back and breathe’. When I am too hasty to brush an experience out of my way because it makes me feel uncomfortable or fearful, I tell myself ‘to stay with it and breathe through it’.
